SPOT finishes off with a surprising and uplifting concert from the energetic SlowTrainSoul. The concert turned out to be a steaming soul-locomotive.
Morten Varano has been an icon on the Danish electronic scene for a long time and is perhaps most famous for his collaboration with Alex Puddu under the name “Puddu Varano”. Once again Varano has created a sound that reach beyond the borders of Denmark into the international club-scene. Supported by the English energybomb and front singer Lady Z, SlowTrainSoul managed to keep the crowd going long after midnight.
The audience flooded the hall of Ridehuset and seconds later the crowd was moving rhythmically to the sound of SlowTrainSoul. Lady Z grabbed the microphone and showed her skills at both singing and ragga vocals. The sound was carried by electronic beats and music that varied from house and dancehall rhythms. The biggest compliment must undoubtedly lie in the motivating force of the band. Lady Z went back and forth between her roles as singer and MC and although the lyrics might become repetitive, her skills as a crowd pleaser made even the furthest audience bounce back and forth to the music.
This audience was just as much alive as the band themselves. There was a mood of party going which might have been missed among the other bands at the SPOT-festival. The sound was great, contrary to many of SPOT’s other scenes, and Ridehuset provided the necessary space for dancing. When the concert was ended you could now either choose to jump on the real world train of the real world or carry your uplifting experience into the nightlife of Århus city.
