Band Ane will be playing at SPOT 2007.
The line up for the SPOT Festival is still being updated and during the last few days a bunch of new names in very diverse genres of popular music have been added to the bill.
Re-formed Speaker Bite Me’s brand new release “Action Painting” made the reviewers cough up with plenty of stars, and while the musical course may be set towards new goals, the band’s uncompromising attitude remains, so they have already reclaimed their status as indie darlings.
Ane Østergaard a.k.a. Band Ane, who has been heralded as the great new hope on the Danish electronica scene, has agreed to come to SPOT to play her versatile, and playful, electronic music. Two Copenhagen acts, the neo-folk/cross-dressing country duo Murder and energy rockers The Fashion also intend to visit Aarhus to play gigs at the festival.
Collaborating with other organisations within the domain of popular music is an old tradition for SPOT, and the 2007 festival is no exception. The Danish Folk Council is among the collaborators this year and during the festival weekend they are going to present three acts.
Haugaard & Høirup, Danish folk duo belonging in the very elite worldwide, and with an impressive number of gigs all over the world, are going to offer their vision for an updating of traditional folk. Instinkt will present their folk beat played on myriads of different instruments, while Franka is undoubtedly going to demonstrate her huge talent for country- and folk-based song writing.
JazzKamikaze: Scandinavian shooting stars.
The Danish Jazz Federation is also happy to present bands with tremendous potential at the festival. The young Danish/Norwegian/Swedish quintet JazzKamikaze have won innumerable awards and received plenty of praise for their sublime instrument skills and near-telepathic interplay.
Energy is the undisputed focus for Copenhagen organ jazzers Ibrahim Electric, while Malene Mortensen, for her part, is going to demonstrate the power and span of her voice with her blend of jazz standards and original compositions .
World Music Denmark, too, brings a band to the festival namely Babylove & The Van Dangos, who excel in ska and rock steady in accordance with the traditional Jamaican recipe of the 50s and 60s.
Finally, the music portal MyMusic.dk also backs up SPOT and proudly presents this year’s winners of the MyMusic grant, art rockers Lily Electric, who are to play a concert at the festival.
The 2007 SPOT Festival takes place in central Aarhus on the 1st and 2nd of June.
