Shout Out Louds - out now with a follow-up to their successful debut album, and looking forward to their SPOT.
For nearly three years now, the Stockholmers of Shout Out Louds have toured in the wake of their highly acclaimed debut album “Howl Howl Gaff Gaff” with its blend of desperate/ energetic rock, new wave and Adam Olenius’s Robert Smith-like voice at the centre. In April, their second album will finally be released, and their gig at this year’s SPOT Festival will be an excellent chance for the Danes to get to know the band’s new material.
Another new name in the line up for SPOT is Marybell Katastrophe – the new band of Marie Højlund (ex Tiger Tunes). Initially, the project was actually thought of as a one-night show at the Klub Sanz Festival, but it became so great a success that they decided to continue pursuing their hybrid of electronics, sensual vocals, ingeniously offbeat ideas, dissonant passages – and a stage show where humour plays an important part.
Caroline Henderson - bringing urban jazz to SPOT.
Also heading for SPOT are 18th Dye – the resurrected Danish/German noise rock band who were huge on the alternative scene until they split up in 1996, and who are now back together again. Green Concorde’s sombre, uncompromising, and edgy big-city rock has also been included, just like the Los Angeles-resident singer/songwriter Simon Lynge will get the chance to present material from his debut CD “Beautiful Way to Drown”, which is to be released in May.
In addition to this, The SPOT Festival also has some delicious urban jazz lined up in the shape of the experienced Caroline Henderson. Having already made a name for herself in various parts of the world, not least in Japan and several European countries, she now hopes to use the festival as a launching pad to further her already rather successful international career. At SPOT she will primarily play material from her latest album “Love or Nothing”.
The Concretes – but one of a fistful of strong Swedish indie acts.
Finally, SPOT will also present a handful of impressive indie and underground bands from Sweden thanks to close collaboration with the Aarhus festival and concert organisers of PopRevo:
The Concretes may be part of the underground, yet they have already toured extensively in Europe and the US with their fragile and delicate indie pop. The album “Hey Trouble” has only just been released – incidentally the first release without the band’s former singer Victoria Bergsman.
Goteborg will be represented by the four members of Sambassedeur, who excel in British-inspired bright-melancholic beams with plenty of acoustic guitars. The Swedish songs of [Ingenting] belong in the borderland of Pixies and Velvet Underground – check out their album “Mycket väsen för ingenting”. Studio’s brilliant update of 80s techno and Balearic have made them one of the most hyped bands of 2006 in their home country. Having only just released their album “Yearbook 1” this year, they took home the “Pop Act of the Year” award at the Swedish P3 Gold Awards. Finally, we have Love Is All whose rock music with its roots in punk and new wave made such an impression on the late, legendary BBC DJ John Peel that he requested a session with the band.
The SPOT Festival 2007 takes place on the first and second of June.
