New Project’s First Ever Performance At SPOTMay 14, 2007

Martin Buhl |

The SPOT Festival offers a first ever performance from a new musical project called Munch and Munk: The Broken Beats’ front man and songwriter has joined forces with Sorten Muld’s technological wizard on a brand new collaborative project with financial support from the Danish Arts Foundation.

and evil at SPOT (Photo: Henrik Friis).

The fruit of their labour will be a unified one-hour-long musical narrative based on an idea of Kim Munk’s and shaped by Henrich Munch’s storage of sound-scapes as well as new creations. The point of departure is a person who has just lived through a personal disaster, and then we get to see the good and evil leading up to this disaster... At least that’s how it looks right now when the two gentlemen are working hard to complete the final draft for the story, the sound, the performance, etc. So far nothing can be taken for granted – except for the fact that it will revealed at SPOT, that is..

SPOT is also happy to present Jens Unmack, and when he enters the stage at SPOT, the SPOT audience gets an excellent opportunity to get to know the songs from his brand new album Aftenland Express, which has been produced by Nikolaj Nørlund. The album has been well received by the Danish critics as well as the adherents of Unmack’s imaginative rock’n’roll tunes and poetic lyrics.

In the department of stylish pop, you run into Hush whose new album For All The Right Reasons marks a musical makeover since the duo’s country-inspired debut left the Danish reviewers and the audience in ecstasy. This February, their new album was released, and in contrast to the debut, it unfolds in an uncompromising pop universe with a couple of departures to other genres though.

Also, moi Caprice will be at SPOT. Several moi Caprice tracks have topped the alternative single chart on Danish Radio P3 just like a number of their singles have been “Track of the Week” on P3. Their latest album The Art of Kissing Properly won them a “Danish Critics’ Award” (Steppeulv) for “Best Band”. As a live band moi Caprice create a melancholy and bittersweet atmosphere at the sombre end of the pop spectrum.

Last but no least, ambient event collective Stella Polaris returns to SPOT to spread atmospheric chill-out music over the central festival area. A handpicked selection of Denmark’s leading DJs and electronica acts – including Krede, Buda (Klovn) and Opiate – will invite you to a relaxing pit stop. Two new acts Matias and Løwenstein from the clubs “Fresh” and “Loco” as well as vastly experienced Nicka and Kalle B will make the chill-out concept form a synthesis.
